[Financial News] As the Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed the Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series title for the second consecutive year, all eyes are on the Dodgers’ Japanese pitcher, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was named this year’s World Series MVP.
On the 2nd (Korean time), the Dodgers secured a 5-4 victory after 11 innings in Game 7 of the 2025 MLB World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Ontario, Canada. With this win, the Dodgers clinched the World Series championship for the second year in a row.
Yamamoto, the Japanese pitcher for the Dodgers, started Game 6 the previous day.
He threw 96 pitches over six innings, allowing just one run and earning the win. He also came in as a reliever in the ninth inning, pitching 22⁄3 scoreless innings, and was responsible for three of the Dodgers’ four wins in this year’s World Series.
In Game 2, Yamamoto threw 105 pitches and led the team to a 5-1 complete game victory, earning him the World Series MVP award.
Meanwhile, a post titled 'Yamamoto’s Winning Item Bag' has been gaining attention on an online community.
The author, identified as A, posted a photo of Yamamoto waving while carrying a bag from the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.
In the photo, Yamamoto is seen with a Louis Vuitton 'Speedy P9 40' bag slung over his shoulder, which is listed at 14.9 million KRW on the official Louis Vuitton website.
This product is crafted from soft calfskin with jewel-inspired hues and was designed by Pharrell Williams, drawing inspiration from cowboy aesthetics. Featured in the 2024 Fall-Winter collection, the bag is distinguished by a handle mount embossed with a horse motif.
Upon seeing the post, online users commented, "He’s frugal," "Compared to what he earns, it’s like buying a black plastic bag," and "The candid shot looks better than the model cut."
Yamamoto, who transferred to the Dodgers in December 2023, signed a 12-year long-term contract with the team.
At the time, American media estimated the terms of Yamamoto’s contract to be around $325 million, including a $50 million signing bonus (approximately 71.4 billion KRW at the time), totaling about 421.5 billion KRW based on the exchange rate then.
