[Financial News] A man in his 50s was arrested by the police on charges of child abuse after ordering his daughter to perform 3,000 sit-down and stand-up repetitions as punishment for not completing her homework.
Dobong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 2nd that it has booked a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of child abuse under the Child Welfare Act and is currently investigating the case.
A is accused of forcing his high school daughter to do 3,000 sit-down and stand-up repetitions at their home in Dobong District around 11 p.m. the previous day because she did not complete her English homework. The daughter reportedly performed about 800 repetitions but did not sustain any physical injuries.
After receiving a report from the Child Protection Agency, police responded to the scene, arrested A in the act, and imposed temporary measures to prevent him from approaching or contacting his daughter.
During police questioning, A reportedly expressed remorse for his actions. It was also revealed that he had previously been reported for child abuse.
