According to Financial News, South Jeolla Province is running the Mobile Outreach Clinic with the Jeollanam-do Medical Association to ensure foreign workers’ health rights and reduce healthcare blind spots, earning favorable reviews.
As of the 1st, the Mobile Outreach Clinic is a collaborative effort involving Mokpo National University, Dongshin University, the Jeollanam-do Mental Health Welfare Center, Naju Family Center, and various migrant support organizations. The goal is to create a healthy community where foreign workers and local residents can thrive together.
Jointly organized by the Jeollanam-do Medical Association and the Jeonnam Immigration and Foreign Residents Support Center, the clinic concluded successfully at the Naju Public Health Center on October 26 with an enthusiastic response, and will be held again on the 2nd at the Mokpo-si Medical Center.
On-site services include free flu vaccinations, tuberculosis screenings, basic medical checkups, and the operation of the Mind Care Bus. In addition, comprehensive services such as health education, visa, labor, and administrative consultations, and interpretation are also provided to meet the daily needs of participants.
Notably, the health screenings and individual counseling provided by the Mind Care Bus, operated by the Jeollanam-do Mental Health Welfare Center, are expected to help identify high-risk groups for mental health issues early and connect them with specialized treatment facilities. This is anticipated to significantly address the psychological isolation and human rights concerns of foreign residents, which have recently become a social issue.
Yeonhwa Yoon, Director of Population and Youth Immigration at South Jeolla Province, stated, “The Mobile Outreach Clinic offers practical support for the health management of vulnerable foreign workers with limited access to healthcare, and will also strengthen the region’s public health safety net. We will continue to take the lead in eliminating healthcare blind spots for foreign residents to ensure that everyone in the province enjoys a healthy and safe life.”
