"I Brought a Gift for You" – Jensen Huang Meets with Chey Tae-won [Gyeongju APEC]

[Gyeongju (Gyeongbuk) – Eun-hyo Cho, Soo-bin Lim] On the afternoon of the 31st, Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, met with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, at the Gyeongju Arts Center, where the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit was being held.This meeting followed a 'chimaek' (chicken and beer) gathering the previous day between Huang and Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics and Chung Eui-sun of Hyundai Motor Group, with discussions centering on AI semiconductors and the construction of AI Factories. On this day, SK Group announced it would receive over 50,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture from Nvidia, aiming to complete the first phase of its AI Factory by the end of 2027.SK hynix, a core affiliate, is expected to begin supplying High Bandwidth Memory 4 (HBM4) to Nvidia starting in the fourth quarter. Photo courtesy of KCCI. During a 'standing meeting' with Chairman Chey and SK hynix President Kwak No-jung, Huang remarked, "I couldn't deliver this yesterday because Chairman Chey was busy," as he presented the NVIDIA DGX Spark, Nvidia's ultra-compact AI supercomputer, as a gift.
The same gift was given to Lee Jae-yong and Chung Eui-sun the previous day. In return, Chairman Chey presented Huang with an SK hynix semiconductor wafer.

Later that afternoon, Huang, along with Chey Tae-won, Lee Jae-yong, Chung Eui-sun, and Lee Hae-jin of Naver, met with President Lee Jae-myung to discuss AI cooperation between Nvidia, the Korean government, and Korean companies. After holding a separate press conference at 5:30 p.
m. , Huang, who visited Korea for the first time in 11 years, concluded his two-day trip and departed the country.
As the CEO of the world's most valuable company and a leader in global AI innovation, Huang captivated the public during his visit with his showmanship, including a public gathering at a chicken restaurant with Lee Jae-yong and Chung Eui-sun, a meeting with President Lee, and a keynote at APEC, making him the most prominent figure of this APEC period.
