[Financial News] Ahead of the 21st presidential election, former Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, who distributed business cards to voters as a preliminary candidate, has been referred to the prosecution.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) on the 31st, Kim, who is suspected of violating the Public Official Election Act, was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office without detention the previous day.
Kim is accused of handing out his business cards to voters while campaigning as a preliminary candidate near GTX-A Suseo Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in early May. The Public Official Election Act prohibits preliminary candidates from distributing business cards or soliciting support inside terminals, stations, or airport gates.
The investigation began after the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) filed a complaint against Kim for violating election campaign regulations and engaging in illegal campaigning. Police recently questioned Kim and citizens who received his business cards, and, having found grounds for the allegations, referred the case to the prosecution.
