Previously, after being re-arrested on July 10, Yoon had missed 16 consecutive hearings citing health issues, but appeared in court the previous day for the rebellion trial for the first time in about four months. In the rebellion prosecution trial, Yoon made his first public appearance since his detention at the initial hearing held on the 26th of last month.
At today’s trial, Kim Seong-hun, former Deputy Chief of Presidential Security, is scheduled to testify regarding the circumstances of Yoon’s arrest by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO). Kim had previously reversed his position during the special prosecutor’s investigation, withdrawing his earlier denial of the related charges.
