[Financial News] Two YouTubers have been indicted for causing disturbances to merchants and insulting police officers near Bucheon Station on the Gyeongin Line (Seoul Subway Line 1) in order to solicit donations.
According to the legal community on the 31st, the Criminal Divisions 1 and 3 of the Bucheon Branch of Incheon District Prosecutors Office (headed by Yeoh Kyung-jin and Yoo Ji-yeon) have detained and indicted two YouTubers in their 20s and 30s, including Mr. A, on charges of obstruction of business and insult.
Mr. A was indicted for disrupting business on four occasions by provoking merchants at PC cafes and pubs around Bucheon Station from mid-August to late September.
It was found that Mr. A verbally abused restaurant staff and acted in a threatening manner with a soju bottle while streaming live online.
Mr. B, a YouTuber in his 30s, was brought to trial for insulting police officers who responded to reports near Bucheon Station between August and September.
Investigations revealed that Mr. B committed these acts as part of a YouTube concept focused on harassing police officers.
According to the prosecution, Mr. A was already on trial for charges of violence, and Mr. B for insult-related charges. It was also revealed that Mr. A had previously violated the Punishment of Minor Offenses Act more than 30 times.
The prosecution stated that it will respond firmly to illegal acts by individual broadcasters who cause various social disturbances.
