[Financial News] On the 30th, Han Seong-sook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated, "We are formulating policies with the hope that startups will become the new driving force of the national economy for the next 30 years."
During the 'Startup Rookie Open Talk' at TIPSTOWN S6 in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, Minister Han emphasized, "In the wave of new industrial innovation such as artificial intelligence (AI), the biotechnology industry, semiconductors, and Mobility, the challenges and ideas of startups are crucial as seeds of innovation and as a driving force for the nation’s economic strength."
The event was attended by over 100 participants, including prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs, investors, universities, and support organizations.
Addressing the attendees, Minister Han remarked, "This year marks the 30th anniversary of startups and 20 years since the Fund of Funds began. I hope that in the future, you will be able to say, 'This is what happened 30 years ago.' I will continue to communicate and serve as a supporter for prospective and early-stage startups."
This event was organized as a preliminary step for the 'Startup Rookie Leap Plan,' aiming to gather on-site feedback from prospective and early-stage startups and reflect it in policy.
Ha-yeon Chae, CEO of Danare, who launched a business with a scar ointment for cesarean sections, noted, "The biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors face many challenges related to certifications and regulations. It would be helpful if we could receive advice on these matters through the 'Everyone's Startup' project."
'Everyone's Startup' is an audition-style program for startups currently being prepared by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Through this 'competition plus incubation' program, the government aims to lower barriers to entry so that anyone with an innovative idea can start a business.
Additionally, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to launch a One-Stop Service Center by the end of this year to address complex issues such as legal, tax, and regulatory matters faced by startups in their early stages.
During the talk show, participants also called for support measures to help local companies expand overseas. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups intends to review the policy proposals suggested by startup rookies and incorporate them into a comprehensive plan to be announced later this year, aiming to make Korea one of the world's top four startup and venture powerhouses.
