Jeonbuk State announced that the 23rd International Fermented Food Expo (IFFE) will be held at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium area from October 30 to November 3.
With the theme 'Fermentation, the Future of K-Food,' this year’s expo brings together 326 companies from 22 countries, offering a wide array of fermented foods in one place.
The exhibition and sales areas are organized into the Global Agri-Bio Pavilion, Leading Products Hall, Marine and Fisheries Pavilion, and Coexistence Food Hall. The domestic companies’ section features traditional fermented foods, outstanding products from Jeonbuk State, and specialized local items including sixth-industry products.
The international section welcomes 34 companies from 12 countries, including Australia, Spain, and Georgia, showcasing fermented foods and products reflecting the latest food industry trends. Special exhibition halls highlight the past, present, and future of fermented foods, while the Jeonbuk Master Food Exhibition and Local Cuisine Promotion Exhibition offer a variety of attractions.
In particular, the Korean Traditional Liquor Special Exhibition features leading traditional liquor producers from Jeonbuk, who will host tastings and sales events for this year’s signature toasts and local liquors.
A wide range of performances and hands-on programs have been prepared for all generations to enjoy.
Programs include food culture experiences using local agricultural products, children’s musicals, percussion parades, and VR experiences, providing diverse content for families and attracting family visitors.
To address abnormal weather and changing cooking environments this year, Jeonbuk State has installed heating and cooling systems in each exhibition hall and expanded mobile restrooms and rest areas for visitor convenience. Recycled and eco-friendly materials were used throughout the booths and event facilities, and food trucks utilize reusable and biodegradable containers to minimize environmental impact.
A Jeonbuk State official stated, “The International Fermented Food Expo (IFFE) serves as the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s premier food exhibition, playing a significant role in promoting the taste and value of our fermented foods. We will continue to seek multifaceted strategies to globalize fermented foods by leveraging Jeonbuk’s food industry infrastructure.”
