Kim Keon-hee Special Prosecutor Raids Chae Sang-byeong Team for 'Kim's Communication Records'... Related to School Violence Cover-Up Allegations

[Financial News] The Kim Keon-hee Special Prosecutor Team, led by Min Joong-ki, requested cooperation from the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team, headed by Lee Myeong-hyeon, to secure Kim Keon-hee’s communication records.
On the morning of the 30th, the Special Prosecutor Team conducted a search and seizure at the office of the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team to obtain Kim Keon-hee’s communication records.
Since July to September 2023, the Special Prosecutor Team has been carrying out search and seizure operations targeting Kim Keon-hee’s call history. The team explained that the search at the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team, which had already secured Kim’s communication records, was conducted for the purpose of cooperation.
Previously, the daughter of Seunghee Kim, a former Presidential Protocol Secretary, who was a third-grade student at an elementary school in Seongnam, assaulted a second-grade female student from the same school multiple times in the restroom. The victim suffered injuries including corneal damage, and the school imposed an emergency suspension on Seunghee Kim’s daughter as a disciplinary measure.
Although the School Violence Committee was convened following the victim’s report, the committee only imposed a 10-day suspension and a class change. The forced transfer requested by the victim’s side was reportedly not implemented.
Shortly after the school violence incident in July 2023, it was revealed that Kim Keon-hee had a phone conversation lasting over eight minutes with the Vice Minister of the United States Department of Education (ED), which sparked suspicions. When this allegation was raised during a National Assembly of the Republic of Korea audit that same year, Seunghee Kim resigned. It was reported that in 2009, Seunghee Kim and Kim Keon-hee completed a graduate program in journalism together. During the 20th presidential election, Seunghee Kim also served as the head of public relations planning for Yoon Suk Yeol’s campaign.
The Special Prosecutor Team appears to be seeking to verify whether Kim Keon-hee communicated with the Vice Minister of the United States Department of Education (ED) immediately after the school violence incident.
