Suncheon City announced that the 'Suncheon Food & Art Festival 2025' will take place from the 31st to November 2 along Jungang-ro in the old downtown, under the slogan 'Food and Art as One, FUAHA Suncheon.'
According to Suncheon City, the 'Food & Art Festival' is a signature urban street festival that annually transforms the four-lane Jungang-ro into a massive festival venue by completely restricting vehicle access.
This year, the festival will introduce three key themes: 'Affordable Prices, Responsible Consumption, and Eco-Friendly Practices,' making it a 'good festival' where everyone can participate comfortably and enjoyably.
At the 'Food Market,' a variety of dishes made with Suncheon's seasonal ingredients will be offered for under 6,000 won. Both residents and tourists can freely explore the festival grounds, sampling and enjoying different foods, providing the dual pleasures of tasting and wandering.
Additionally, a Live Commerce show linked to the government-led 'Korea Grand Festival' will be held. The broadcast will feature Suncheon's local brands and specialties in real time, with products such as the Chilgejang Cream Pasta Meal Kit, Spicy Seasoned Cockle Salad from Suncheon, and Bitter Lettuce Kimchi as main highlights. This initiative aims to expand local business opportunities, boost brand recognition, and create a model for a 'responsible consumption festival' that circulates the local economy.
For the first time this year, a '100-Won Festival Shuttle Bus' will be introduced to reduce traffic congestion and improve downtown accessibility. The festival's main information booth will distribute 'Suncheon Tourism Discount Coupons,' offering benefits such as a 7,000-won ticket for the Garden Dream, a 50% admission discount for non-residents at Naganeupseong Folk Village, and free entry to the Suncheon Open Film Set. These efforts aim to create a seamless tourism loop from the festival to local attractions.
Along the Culture Street, the 'Art Market' will showcase works by local artists and young creators, as well as interactive spaces for citizen participation. Throughout Jungang-ro, visitors can also enjoy a variety of street performances, including circus dramas, bubble shows, magic shows, and African percussion parades.
During the festival, Suncheon City will completely restrict vehicle access on the four-lane Jungang-ro, and buses passing through the area will be temporarily rerouted. To minimize inconvenience, the city will install guide signs and banners, and deploy staff to manage traffic and ensure safety.
Additionally, the city will thoroughly prepare detailed operational plans for waste management, pedestrian flow, and emergency response, ensuring that both residents and visitors can enjoy a safe and pleasant festival experience.
No Gwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon City, stated, "The Food & Art Festival is not just a food event, but a representative model of an urban festival created by the citizens themselves." He added, "This year, we will welcome everyone with a truly 'good festival' themed around affordable prices, responsible consumption, and eco-friendly practices."
