[Financial News] Hancom Lifecare, a subsidiary of Hancom Group and a company specializing in defense and safety equipment, announced on the 29th that it will participate as a key technology partner in the 'Korea Combat Training Center (KCTC) Performance Upgrade' project, a core training system for the Army.
This project, led by ITCEN ENTEC, is a major national defense performance upgrade contract signed with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), valued at KRW 48.6 billion. The purpose is to enhance the Army's real combat readiness by upgrading the existing KCTC training system to meet the latest battlefield environments. Hancom Lifecare will be responsible for a core segment worth KRW 6.42 billion and will carry out the project for 24 months from the contract date.
Hancom Lifecare will oversee the development, manufacturing, and delivery of 30 key equipment items, including the MILES Wearable Detector for the K-5 Gas Mask and the K242 Mortar Simulator. Notably, to advance the core 'Intelligent Training Data Analysis System' of this project, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will be applied to select critical sensors. By utilizing Vision AI for measuring firing data of the K242 Mortar Simulator, the company aims to significantly improve accuracy, thereby enhancing both training safety and evaluation reliability.
Hancom Lifecare has accumulated unrivaled experience in the development and mass production of scientific training systems for urban areas, mechanized units, and reserve force training equipment. The company plans to successfully complete this project to secure a competitive edge in future KCTC-related projects and to use its acquired AI technology and references as a springboard for entering the global scientific training market.
Kim Sun-young, CEO of Hancom Lifecare, stated, “The Korea Combat Training Center (KCTC) is at the heart of our military’s ‘smart defense’ and ‘digital transformation’ initiatives to maximize combat capabilities. Through this project, Hancom Lifecare aims to prove itself not just as an equipment supplier but as a leading partner in defense AI technology, contributing to the enhancement of our military’s combat power while also securing future growth engines.”
