National Inseol Tea Culture Exhibition and Tea Etiquette Competition to Be Held at Incheon Dohobu Government Office on the 1st of Next Month

On the 1st of next month, from 1 to 5 p.m., the 26th National Inseol Tea Culture Exhibition and Tea Etiquette Competition will take place at the Incheon Dohobu Government Office (a reconstructed historical site) in Munhak-dong, Incheon. The Financial News Incheon – Han Gap-soo: An event where young people, the leaders of the future, compete in traditional tea etiquette will be held.
The Gyubang Darye Preservation Association announced on the 28th that it will host the 26th National Inseol Tea Culture Exhibition and Tea Etiquette Competition at the Incheon Dohobu Government Office (a reconstructed historical site) in Munhak-dong, Incheon, from 1 to 5 p.m. on the 1st of next month.
This event is co-hosted by the Gyubang Darye Preservation Association, the Korea Tea Culture Association, and the Gachon Cultural Foundation, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), Incheon Metropolitan City, Incheon Metropolitan Council, Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education, and Gachon University Gil Hospital.
The National Inseol Tea Culture Exhibition and Tea Etiquette Competition aims to foster filial piety, courtesy, wisdom, and benevolence in youth by instilling traditional tea etiquette and values. Since 2000, it has been held annually and is the largest tea etiquette competition in the country.
More than 200 participants, who have advanced through regional preliminaries, will compete in six divisions ranging from kindergarten to general. They will be judged on skills such as hand posture before bowing, bowing, the entire tea brewing and serving process, proper wearing of hanbok, entrance and exit etiquette, and manners in interaction.
The competition will present a grand prize (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award) to one winner, as well as top prizes for each division (Mayor’s Award, Council Chair’s Award, Superintendent’s Award, etc.) and excellence awards. Additional honors include the Gachon Cultural Award and the Insul Etiquette Award.
At the event venue, families can enjoy hands-on experiences such as making tea in a traditional cauldron, green tea cotton candy making, tteok pounding, and demonstrations of traditional foot-powered potter’s wheels, all free of charge.
There will also be beautiful tea tables featuring green tea, yellow tea, powdered tea, black tea, and iced tea, along with a tea tasting event for visitors to enjoy. From 3:30 p.m., a celebratory performance by Lastreet Crew will feature a fusion of Korean traditional music and B-boying, as well as a K-POP dance show.
So-Yeon Choi, Director of the Gyubang Darye Preservation Association, stated, “For the past 26 years, the Inseol Tea Culture Exhibition has been a cradle for nurturing the character of young people and preserving traditional culture. I hope this event will be an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the autumn atmosphere while drinking tea.”
