The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 27th that it has formed a Task Force (TF) and held its first meeting to ensure the swift establishment of the Global Startup Hub, which is scheduled to open early next year.
The Global Startup Hub, located near Hongik University in Mapo-gu, Seoul, is a large-scale startup infrastructure (total floor area of 13,275 square meters) designed to support Korean startups expanding overseas and foreign companies entering the Korean market.
To this end, the Global Startup Hub plans to operate various programs for approximately 250 domestic and international startups, focusing on areas such as global expansion, open innovation, investment, and university collaboration.
The TF, led directly by the Vice Minister, will monitor progress and organize six teams to systematically prepare operational programs for each area.
The General Affairs Team will oversee space development and overall planning. For each major program of the Global Startup Hub, specialized teams will be established: Global Team, Open Innovation Support Team, Investment & Finance Team, and University Cooperation Team. Additionally, the Execution Support Team, responsible for practical operations, will be managed by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) and private operators.
No Yongseok, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "With the opening of the Global Startup Hub imminent, please make thorough preparations so that it can become a representative startup hub for Korea on the global stage."
