[Financial News] The scenic spot that gained attention for its beautiful landscape after appearing in the dramas 'Mr. Sunshine' and 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty' has now been recognized as a natural heritage site.
The Korea Heritage Service announced on the 27th that the area surrounding Gosanjeong Pavilion in Gasong-ri, Dosan-myeon, Andong-si, North Gyeongsang Province, will be designated as a Scenic Site.
Gosanjeong Pavilion was built by Geum Nansu (1530–1604), a mid-Joseon scholar. Geum Nansu was a disciple of Yi Hwang (1501–1570), contributed to the construction of Dosan Seowon, and is known for leading volunteer soldiers in the Andong area during the Jeongyu War.
The area around Gosanjeong Pavilion has long been renowned for its scenic beauty and its association with Confucian scholar culture. Gasong-ri, where the pavilion is located, sits at the foot of Cheongnyangsan Mountain, and is praised for its harmonious landscape of waterways centered on the Nakdong River, rocks, forests, and the pavilion itself.
Poems and writings left by Yi Hwang and other scholars remain in literature such as 'Gosan Jeyeong.' Nearby, there are old paths once traveled by Yi Hwang and the Nongam Head House. In recent years, the area has also gained attention as a filming location for dramas.
The Korea Heritage Service explained, "The area offers a variety of beautiful landscapes throughout the four seasons, and its scenery—where nature and humanity coexist in harmony—remains intact to this day, making it highly valuable."
