Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced that one of the two victims died after being attacked with a weapon wielded by Mr. A, a man in his 60s, the previous day. The other victim underwent surgery but remains in critical condition.
Mr. A is accused of attacking the restaurant owners with a knife at an eatery in Suyu-dong.
Reportedly, he brandished the weapon after claiming he was not given a lottery ticket at this restaurant, which provides a 1,000-won lottery ticket to customers who order alcohol.
The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A as soon as the investigation is completed today.
A police official stated, "It is still difficult to confirm the exact weapon or specific circumstances," adding, "Since a dispute arose during the payment process, it cannot be definitively said that the crime was committed solely because the owner did not provide a lottery ticket."
