[Financial News] Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia signed a ceasefire agreement on the 26th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The signing ceremony was attended by President Donald John Trump of the United States and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia, who were visiting for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
According to reports from the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and other foreign media, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand and Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia signed the 'peace deal.'
The specific details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
However, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that the transfer of weapons and the release of prisoners of war would begin immediately.
Thailand and the Kingdom of Cambodia clashed along the border for five days at the end of July, and the BBC reported that the fighting ceased due to trade pressure from President Donald John Trump.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed gratitude to President Donald John Trump for his efforts toward the ceasefire and for offering condolences on the passing of Queen Dowager Sirikit.
Prime Minister Hun Manet of the Kingdom of Cambodia also remarked that peace was achieved thanks to President Donald John Trump’s decisive leadership and tireless efforts.
Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia for his efforts toward the agreement and expressed hope that the international community would continue to support and uphold the accord.
President Donald John Trump has repeatedly stated that he would use trade agreements to pressure some countries into accepting peace.
On this day, foreign media reported that President Donald John Trump was scheduled to sign trade agreements with Malaysia and the Kingdom of Cambodia, and to conclude a critical minerals agreement with Thailand.
