'KOSPI Hits Record High,' Approaching 3,940 Mark... Touches 3,938.32 [fn Afternoon Market Report]

As of 1:44 p.m., KOSPI was trading at 3,935.94, up 90.38 points (2.35%) from the previous session.
KOSPI opened at 3,893.23, up 47.67 points (1.24%) from the previous close. During the morning session, it broke through the 3,910 level for the first time ever and surpassed 3,920 at around 11:04 a.m.
The index continued its upward momentum, crossing the 3,930 mark for the first time at around 12:45 p.m. and touching 3,938.32 at 1:43 p.m. In the domestic stock market, individual investors are selling off 1.1843 trillion won worth of shares, while foreign investors and institutions are buying 309.5 billion won and 881.1 billion won, respectively.
As of the previous day, foreign investors' net purchases in KOSPI stood at 1,100.7527 trillion won. Since breaking the 1,000 trillion won mark for the first time at the end of September, foreign investors have been rapidly increasing their holdings in KOSPI-listed stocks.
Among the top 14 stocks by market capitalization, LG Energy Solution (8.83%), SK hynix (6.06%), Doosan Enerbility (4.85%), and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (3.12%) recorded the largest gains.
On the other hand, Hanwha Aerospace (-2.67%), KB Financial Group (0.70%), Kia Corporation (-0.57%), and Hyundai Motor (-0.40%) declined. Samsung Electronics, the largest stock by market capitalization, was trading at 98,900 won, up 2.49% from the previous session.
On this day, the combined market capitalization of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix surpassed 1,000 trillion won for the first time ever.
