The National Center for the Rights of the Child announced on the 23rd that it would sign a business agreement with the Korea Sports Ethics Center. This agreement is designed to establish a cooperative system between the two organizations and strengthen their joint response to prevent child abuse and promote mandatory reporting within the sports community.
The National Center for the Rights of the Child has continuously developed educational content and conducted research to improve systems, enabling professionals in 27 child-related occupations to fulfill their mandatory reporting duties regarding child abuse.
In particular, in 2025, educational content will be developed for those working in the sports and educational sectors and distributed through relevant associations and institutions.
The main points of the agreement include: educational and research initiatives to prevent child abuse and promote mandatory reporting in the sports community; policy proposals; and mutual cooperation in the Child Abuse Prevention Positive Parenting Relay Campaign and related publicity efforts.
Park Ji-young, Director of the Korea Sports Ethics Center, stated, "We hope that by promoting preventive education and spreading the value of human rights protection in the sports community, children will be able to participate in sports activities in a safer environment. With this agreement, we will establish a more robust system to prevent child abuse in sports and provide multifaceted support to encourage mandatory reporting."
Ick-Joong Chung, President of the National Center for the Rights of the Child, remarked, "Safe sports activities are the foundation for children to grow up healthy and pursue their dreams. Through cooperation between our two organizations, we will contribute to building a child-friendly educational environment and expand our collaboration into various fields, starting with the establishment of a child abuse prevention system in sports."
