[Financial News] In June, a report was released analyzing that the expanded fiscal spending during the COVID-19 pandemic could be a major factor behind high inflation. The massive funds injected into the market to spur economic recovery temporarily boosted growth rates, but public interest in where this money went and its aftereffects gradually faded. Yet, is it really safe to forget about all the 'money in circulation'?
Jin-Seok Son’s new book, The Great Explosion of Money, addresses this question. The author is a journalist who previously served as head of the economic policy team at The Chosun Ilbo and has long covered international economics and fiscal policy. While his previous work analyzed the economies of the United States and Europe, this book focuses on currency itself—on money as it is.
