[Financial News] Naver Corporation announced on the 22nd that it will launch the 'Be Local Week' campaign to celebrate the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. The campaign aims to introduce Gyeongju’s unique culture and characteristics to international visitors. Notably, Naver Corporation CEO Choi Soo-yeon plans to visit the campaign site during APEC to meet with local business owners in Gyeongju and discuss the growth potential of the local community.
'Be Local Week' is a campaign designed to help international visitors attending APEC easily explore Gyeongju’s various historical sites and tourist attractions using Naver Corporation’s services. It also encourages them to visit local shops and experience the city’s culture and unique offerings.
The campaign will run for one week from the 25th to the 31st. Through multilingual versions of Naver Map in English, Chinese, and Japanese, more than 30 local businesses—including restaurants, cafes, and workshops located on Hwangnidan Street—will be introduced.
Starting on the 23rd, Naver Map will introduce the 'Flying View 3D' feature, which provides three-dimensional representations of landmarks. This will allow users to explore areas around Cheomseongdae and the Gyeongju Historic Areas.
Additionally, when users search for 'Gyeongju' on Naver Map, they will see the newly launched 'Discovery Feed,' which uses AI to recommend popular places, restaurants, cafes, and activities in the area.
Some local businesses participating in Be Local Week will pilot Naver Pay’s offline integrated terminal, 'Npay Connect.' The 'Be Local Week' Clip Creator Challenge, which highlights hidden restaurants and alleys in Gyeongju including Hwangnidan Street, will also begin on the 25th.
Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver Corporation, stated, “The APEC Summit, which is drawing global attention, will be held in Gyeongju, a city with a rich historical legacy. We hope this campaign will provide international visitors with more opportunities to discover the value of local businesses and experience Gyeongju’s unique culture and characteristics.”
