[Financial News] Soop announced on the 22nd that it will host the 'Soop Star University League,' featuring a diverse group of streamers.
The 'Star University Competition' is a league where streamers who are former professional gamers team up with general streamers to compete. Former pro-gamer streamers will serve as 'presidents' or 'professors,' directly coaching beginner streamers, and the competition will be divided into tiers based on skill level.
The tournament will kick off with the group draw ceremony at FreecUP Studio and continue for about a month, culminating in the offline finals at the SOOP Colosseum in Sangam on the 23rd of next month. The event offers a total prize pool of 60 million won, with 13 Star University Crews and over 300 streamers participating.
The Star University Competition began in 2021 as the official league 'SKES-Star University' with eight teams and has expanded in scale each season. The initial four-tier system has now been subdivided into eight tiers, ranging from 1 to 8. New tiers have been added, including the 'Baby' tier for beginners and the 'Joker,' 'King,' and 'Jack' tiers for former professional gamers, enhancing the competitiveness and quality of the matches.
Participating teams include Newcatsle (Ginewda), Neupjidae (Ssangdi), MB University (Ma Ye-jun), K University (K), Heuk Academy (Heuk Un-jang), YB (Yeom Bo-seong), Surgery Table (Jeong Jung-man), C9 (Chulgu), Waffle University (Wiper), Ino University (Kim In-ho), Jeongseon University (Park Funny), Tskam Monsters (Kim Yoon-hwan), and JSA (Sijo-sae). The group stage through the semifinals will be held online, while the finals will take place offline.
