NAVER Cloud announced on the 22nd that it will launch LINE WORKS, which has held the top spot in Japan’s paid business chat market for eight consecutive years, in Taiwan. This marks the second global market entry after Japan. The company aims to build on its growth in Japan, expand into Taiwan, and eventually target the Southeast Asia market.
Since its debut in Japan in 2016, LINE WORKS has maintained the number one share in the Japanese paid business messenger market for eight consecutive years, demonstrating its unrivaled competitiveness. Designed as an all-in-one messaging-based app, it caters to Japan’s industrial structure, where many employees work outside the office, enabling field workers to easily use it in a mobile environment.
LINE WORKS Taiwan will be the only collaboration tool integrated with LINE, offering an optimal business solution that unifies internal and external communications and enhances work efficiency. Built on a robust security system, it supports secure collaboration with external users of LINE and LINE WORKS, and improves productivity and management convenience through enterprise-specific features such as file and group management. The service is optimized for local users by incorporating Taiwan’s personal data protection laws, supporting payments in New Taiwan Dollar (NTD), and providing customer support and content in traditional Chinese.
Taiwan’s Software as a Service (SaaS) market for remote work and collaboration continues to grow, with messaging-based work being especially prevalent. While business messengers are widely used for work, many companies still rely on free personal messengers, increasing the need for paid collaboration tools to ensure data security and business continuity.
Yuwon Kim, CEO of NAVER Cloud, stated, “Taiwan shares industrial characteristics with Japan and offers high growth potential, making it an ideal environment to expand our proven business model. Under the vision of ‘technology that transforms the workplace,’ we will continue to enhance our collaboration tool features and strive to become an essential work solution that drives real improvements in business environments in Taiwan and throughout Southeast Asia.”
