[Financial News] The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) announced that it will host the 7th Korea Police World Expo (KPEX) for four days starting on the 22nd at Songdo International Business District (Songdo IBD) in Incheon.
This year’s expo brings together the latest technologies and products in public safety from around the world. A total of 216 domestic and international companies will participate, showcasing the present and future of security technology.
Under the theme 'AI Policing for Citizens, Field, Industry, and Global Community,' the event will feature nine specialized exhibition halls, including those focused on cybercrime response technologies, mobility and robotics, video security technology, and anti-terrorism equipment.
Additionally, special halls have been set up to address pressing social issues such as protection of vulnerable groups, disaster and safety response, and artificial intelligence.
The AI Special Hall will display cutting-edge technologies and equipment applicable to the field of public safety.
Ten related organizations, including the Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP), The Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), and Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE), will offer a variety of policy support services to participating companies, such as technology protection, export financing, and trade insurance.
The Public Safety Industry Awards expanded the number of recipients from three companies to six this year.
Awardees include Pureum Lee, senior researcher at ZIOVISION, who developed an automatic video analysis program for child abuse detection; Inho Lee, professor at Pusan National University (PNU), who developed core technology for a quadruped patrol robot; Jin-Hyung Shin, manager at TrekSta, who developed a field duty vest using carbon composite materials; Ki Chul Kim, CEO of Hanwha Vision, who exported AI-based CCTV to Australia; Lee Sung-jin, CEO of Innodep Inc., who exported an AI-based CCTV monitoring system to Belize; and Lee Jung-yeon, CEO of Lotus International, who exported bulletproof equipment to the Republic of Indonesia.
The KNPA aims to secure export contracts worth over 8 billion won during this expo. Last year, the event achieved 7.3 billion won in export contracts, following the first-ever 5 billion won in contracts during the 2023 event.
To this end, one-on-one export consultations will be held between delegations from more than 20 countries, including Paraguay, the United Kingdom (UK), and the Republic of Indonesia, and domestic companies. Overseas police delegations will also visit local company sites.
The expo will also support domestic market expansion for companies through equipment evaluation sessions, where field police officers and officials from local governments and public institutions can directly assess product performance, as well as cyber security system purchasing consultations and public procurement meetings.
Jaesung Yoo, acting commissioner of the KNPA, stated, "To respond to the rapidly changing public safety environment, including digital sex crimes, voice phishing, and investment fraud, we must foster the K-public safety industry as a future growth engine. We will continue to support and collaborate with companies as they develop innovative technologies and expand into global markets."
