[Financial News] Paldo announced on the 22nd that cumulative sales of 'Icheon Fresh Rice Vilac Sikhye' have surpassed one million units just six weeks after its launch.
This pace is five times faster than Paldo had initially projected. In response to the growing demand, Paldo plans to increase production and strengthen marketing efforts to further target the traditional beverage market.
Icheon Fresh Rice Vilac Sikhye is a premium Sikhye introduced by Paldo in September. It is made using rice harvested that year in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. From the planning stage, Paldo conducted consumer research to select popular local agricultural products.
Paldo identified convenience and enhanced flavor as key factors behind the new product’s popularity.
For the first time in the traditional beverage category, a full open can package was introduced. The can’s fully opening top allows consumers to easily enjoy the rice grains that settle at the bottom, increasing satisfaction. Positive feedback has also been seen on platforms such as YouTube and other social media.
Improvements in taste and texture also played a significant role. Compared to previous products, the amount of rice grains was increased by 20%, enhancing the chewy texture. The sweetness extracted from malt brings out the authentic flavor of traditional Sikhye. Its ability to be stored at room temperature is another advantage.
Lim Yong-hyuk, Paldo’s marketing manager, stated, “The popularity of Icheon Fresh Rice Vilac Sikhye is the result of consumer trust and product innovation coming together,” adding, “We will continue to expand the traditional beverage market through ongoing quality improvements and marketing that reflect customer needs.”
Paldo Virak Sikhye, first launched in 1993, is Paldo’s flagship traditional beverage brand. It holds the top market share in the domestic Sikhye market, with cumulative sales exceeding two billion cans.
