Samsung Electronics announced on the 22nd that it has become the first in the industry to equip its 2025 TVs and monitors with the generative AI 'Perplexity.' The models include the 2025 Micro RGB, Neo Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode (Neo QLED), QLED, Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED), Samsung The Frame Pro, Samsung The Frame TV, and the 2025 Samsung Smart Monitor M7, M8, and M9 Series.
Perplexity is an AI-powered search engine that gathers and analyzes information from reliable sources to provide in-depth answers and suggest follow-up questions. For example, it can offer optimal responses to user queries on a wide range of topics, such as movie recommendations, travel planning, sports results, and corporate performance analysis.
Users can access the Perplexity application by launching the 'Samsung Vision AI Companion' via the 'Apps' tab on their TV or monitor screen, or by pressing the AI button on the remote control. Owners of Samsung TVs and monitors equipped with Perplexity will receive a complimentary 12-month subscription to 'Perplexity Pro.'
Samsung Electronics plans to add Perplexity to its 2023 and 2024 TVs and monitors through an operating system (OS) update within the year.
The integration of Perplexity is part of the blueprint Samsung Electronics unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2025 (CES 2025) in January, the world’s largest home appliance and IT exhibition. At the event, the company introduced its personalized AI, 'Samsung Vision AI Companion,' for the first time and announced plans to expand customized screen experiences through partnerships with global AI companies.
Following the addition of Microsoft Copilot to its 2025 TVs and monitors in August, Samsung Electronics has now introduced Perplexity as well. The company aims to continue providing an AI TV experience that helps users find content, ask questions, and receive various forms of assistance in daily life.
Ahn Hee-young, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, stated, "Through our partnership with Perplexity, we expect users will be able to utilize large screens in new and meaningful ways."
