[Financial News] Synopex Inc. announced on the 22nd that it has signed a supply agreement for hemofilters (hemodialysis filters) with B. Braun Korea, a company specializing in medical devices and hemodialysis solutions.
This contract follows a strategic business agreement signed four months ago in June. Through this agreement, Synopex Inc. aims to expand domestic hemofilter supply and strengthen its market competitiveness by leveraging an extensive distribution network. B. Braun, a German-based global healthcare company with a 185-year history, provides healthcare solutions across 16 therapeutic areas, including surgery and cardiovascular diseases, to 64 countries worldwide.
B. Braun Korea, established in 1990 when B. Braun entered the Korean market, operates under the philosophy of 'Sharing Expertise.' The company delivers safer solutions for patients and more efficient healthcare options for medical professionals.
Lee Jin-tae, head of Synopex Inc.'s Artificial Kidney Division, stated, "This agreement is a one-year supply contract, with terms renegotiated annually. Quantities for each model are determined on a monthly basis." He added, "With this contract, we have secured a confirmed supply volume and will begin supplying hemofilters next month."
The combination of Synopex Inc.'s manufacturing technology and B. Braun Korea's distribution infrastructure in the hemodialysis field is expected to accelerate the localization of hemofilters, which have so far relied entirely on imports.
Meanwhile, Synopex Inc. currently supplies 11 types of hemofilters, certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), to domestic hospitals and clinics, allowing selection based on patient dialysis conditions. For overseas expansion, the company recently completed document submission and application for Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification in Europe.
In addition, Synopex Inc. is preparing to commercialize medical equipment such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and hemodialysis (HD) product lines. The company is also working to expand its portfolio in the artificial kidney sector, including submitting an application to the MFDS for approval of a portable water purification device for artificial kidneys.
