[Financial News] On the 21st, Kang Hoon-sik, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President of South Korea, announced that he held talks with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, to broadly discuss defense and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Kang shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account that he had a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz to discuss defense and economic cooperation between the two nations. He added, "The President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) places great importance on Korea-Poland relations and hopes to further elevate the strategic partnership during his term."
Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz also wrote on his official X account, "Key topics of our discussion included defense industry cooperation between Poland and Korea, technology transfer, and the supply of equipment for the Polish military," adding, "I had a meaningful conversation with Kang Hoon-sik, Chief of Staff at the Office of the President of South Korea."
Currently, Kang is visiting Poland and other European countries as the Presidential Special Envoy for Strategic Economic Cooperation. On the 17th, President Lee Jae-myung appointed Kang as Special Envoy to strengthen strategic cooperation with European countries involved in defense industry partnerships.
Before departing from Incheon International Airport on the 19th, Kang stated, "I have been entrusted with the important mission of serving as the Presidential Special Envoy for Strategic Economic Cooperation. Our country will make every effort to achieve the goal of becoming one of the world's top four defense industry powers."
Meanwhile, this visit is reportedly linked to large-scale defense exports and technology cooperation projects between Korea and Poland. According to industry sources, the dispatch of the special envoy is intended to support major defense projects, including Poland’s Orka Project, which is valued at approximately 8 trillion won.
