[Financial News] A post threatening to 'blow up Samsung Electronics Headquarters' was uploaded, prompting a police search.
According to the police and other sources on the 21st, the 119 Online Reporting Center received this report at around 7:20 p.m. the previous day.
It was reported that the poster mentioned their name and current situation while leaving the bomb threat message.
At around 10 p.m., Suwon Yeongtong Police Station was notified by the Samsung Electronics Security Team that a detailed analysis of the CCTV footage revealed nothing unusual, and the officers who had been dispatched were withdrawn.
However, based on the risk assessment standards of the national terrorism response manual, the police decided to maintain Level 2 (low risk) and temporarily strengthen patrols in the area.
Given that the post did not specify a particular location, the police also informed other regional police agencies where Samsung Electronics has facilities and conducted searches there as well.
A police official stated, 'Considering the strict access procedures within Samsung Electronics, the security level is very high and the likelihood of an actual explosive device being installed is low. Nevertheless, a search was conducted due to the report.'
The police identified a likely suspect through tracking methods such as the Virtual Private Network (VPN), but the individual denies the allegations.
The police plan to take follow-up measures as soon as the facts are confirmed.
