[Financial News] The police announced that, regarding Lee Jin-sook, former Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, who is under suspicion of violating the Public Official Election Act and the National Public Service Act, 'Since the statute of limitations is imminent, we plan to complete the investigation as quickly as possible.'
Park Jeong-bo, chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA), stated at a regular briefing on the 20th, 'The third round of questioning is scheduled for the 27th.'
On the 2nd, Yeongdeungpo Police Station arrested Lee on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and the National Public Service Act. However, the court accepted Lee’s request for a warrant review and ordered her release.
A reinvestigation is also underway into Heelim Ryu, former Chairperson of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, including additional accusations related to allegations of instigating civil complaints.
Chief Park explained, 'The case related to the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act was forwarded, and the obstruction of business charge was not. The prosecution requested a reinvestigation, and there was an additional accusation.'
Regarding independent lawmaker Lee Choon-suak, who is under suspicion of stock transactions under borrowed names, Park stated, 'The number of individuals to be investigated in this case has increased to 85.' He added, 'Due to concerns about evidence destruction or contamination of statements, it is difficult to disclose whether additional suspects will be booked.'
