[Financial News] Senior police officials from Korea and the Kingdom of Cambodia will hold bilateral talks on the 20th to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating scam-related crimes.
The Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) announced that Jaesung Yoo, Acting Commissioner General of KNPA, and Chhea Phearou, Deputy Commissioner General of the Cambodian National Police, will meet at 2 p.m. in the agency’s second conference room to exchange views on establishing a Korean Desk dedicated to handling Korean-related cases.
Previously, a government joint response team dispatched to the Kingdom of Cambodia had agreed with Cambodian authorities to form a Joint Response Task Force instead of a Korean Desk. However, the police are expected to advocate for the establishment of a Korean Desk as a long-term solution.
On the morning of the 18th (Korean time), detention warrant hearings for some of the 64 individuals extradited from the Kingdom of Cambodia on a chartered flight to Incheon will be held today at courts across the country.
Police reportedly applied for detention warrants for a significant number of those apprehended as the 48-hour detention deadline approached early this morning, but did not disclose the exact number.
