KOSPI Surges Over 2%, Reclaims 3,600 Mark [fn Afternoon Market Report]

[Financial News] The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) climbed more than 2% on the 15th, once again surpassing the 3,600 level.
As of 1:50 p.m., the KOSPI was trading at 3,637.15, up 2.12% from the previous session. The index opened at 3,580.64, a 0.53% increase from the previous close, and continued to rise throughout the session, briefly soaring past 3,630.
Institutional investors are leading the rally. At this time, institutions have made net purchases worth 602.2 billion won in the KOSPI Market. Foreign investors have also added support by buying 68.9 billion won, while individual investors have sold a net 713.5 billion won.
Most of the top market cap stocks are trading higher. In particular, Samsung Electronics is up 3.38%, Samsung Biologics has jumped 10.03%, and Doosan Enerbility is up 7.85%. SK hynix (0.85%) and Hanwha Aerospace (1.18%) are also showing strength.
By sector, machinery (6.19%), pharmaceuticals (5.19%), construction (3.57%), and retail (2.40%) are all on the rise. In contrast, insurance is down 1.16%.
At the same time, the Korean Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (KOSDAQ) index is trading at 859.57, up 1.38% from the previous session.
In the KOSDAQ market, institutional investors have purchased 33.9 billion won. Meanwhile, individuals and foreign investors have made net sales of 3.1 billion won and 29.2 billion won, respectively.
