"Enjoy delicious food this weekend on Songjeong Food Street in Gumi!"
Gumi City announced on the 15th that the 2025 Gumi Food Festival will be held for two days from the 18th to the 19th on the 1.5km stretch of Songjeong Food Street in front of City Hall, promising to once again ignite the city with culinary excitement amidst the autumn atmosphere.
This year’s event uniquely reinterprets Gumi’s name as '9 Flavors,' bringing together nine distinctive food themes in one place.
The festival will feature the Gumi Food Expo, where leading local food companies participate; the Gumi Food Market, connecting consumers and producers; the Gumi Milgari Bakery & Cafe Zone, offering freshly baked bread and coffee made with local flour; the Gumi Dang Kimchi-Mac Zone, serving craft beer and chicken exclusive to Songjeong Food Street; and the Samgyeop Grilling Zone, last year’s most popular attraction. These spaces collectively showcase the best of Gumi’s culinary scene.
Other highlights include the Children’s Food Zone, filled with snacks kids love; the Local Makgeolli Zone, in collaboration with local breweries such as Seonsan Brewery and Sandong Makgeolli; the Local Restaurant Zone, featuring 50 local eateries; and the Asian Gourmet Zone, which received great acclaim during the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships. A wide variety of food-themed content will fill the festival grounds.
Jang Ho Kim, Mayor of Gumi City, emphasized, “The Gumi Food Festival is more than just a food event—it is Gumi’s comprehensive gourmet content, where visitors can enjoy local agricultural products, the food industry, and diverse culinary culture. I hope people of all ages, from children to seniors, will come together to experience the romantic culture that Gumi is creating anew.”
Particular attention is on Food & Talk, where Kim Min-kyung, a leading figure in the food entertainment scene, will visit the festival in person to interact with visitors. She plans to explore the venue, experience Gumi’s flavors in real time, and share lively conversations with citizens.
Interactive content for the MZ generation and families has been further enhanced. The Spooky! Costume Contest, where participants take the stage in unique Halloween costumes, will be held at 4 p.m. on both days of the festival at the auxiliary stage in the second parking lot. Anyone can participate on-site without prior registration, and the winner will receive a Gumi Love Gift Certificate worth 100,000 won.
Meanwhile, a variety of associated events will take place during the festival. At 2 p.m. on the 18th, the main stage will host the Gumi Eoulrim Madanggeuk Festival, featuring performances by traditional musicians Ko Yeongyeol and Taepyungyang Yu. Later that day at 5 p.m., Dongnak Park will be the venue for the Gumi Youth Hip-Hop Festival, expected to draw a young crowd.
Additionally, just a five-minute walk from the festival, the City Central Library will host the Gumi Book Festival (GBF), offering a variety of cultural and literary experiences.
