This year’s theme is 'A Sustainable Gyeonggi Province Drawn Together with Residents,' using a play on words with 'draw together' and 'green,' which symbolizes climate action.
The festival is designed to showcase Gyeonggi Province’s strong commitment to tackling the climate crisis and to foster communication with its residents.
Gyeonggi Residents' Day was established in 2018 to commemorate the millennium of Gyeonggi, marking the first use of the name 'Gyeonggi' during the reign of King Hyeonjong of Goryeo in 1018.
Last year, about 8,000 residents participated in the 7th event held at Gyeonggi Peace Square in Uijeongbu. This year, Governor Kim Dong-yeon is also scheduled to meet and communicate directly with residents.
The main event will take place on the 18th, Gyeonggi Residents' Day, starting at 4 p.m. It will feature the 'G-Runway' fashion show, the 'Gyeonggi Together Green Talk Show,' and a variety of cultural performances.
G-Runway is a recycling fashion show that adds new value to discarded materials, delivering a message about responding to the climate crisis and presenting a vision for a sustainable environment.
The Gyeonggi Together Green Talk Show will include interactive programs such as a conversation between Governor Kim and residents, a policy quiz show, and more. Actors Park Si-eun and Jin Tae-hyun will host the event, while new ambassadors Tzuyang and the music group BEATPELLA HOUSE will be officially appointed.
Celebratory performances will feature singer Ben, Crying Nut, and BEATPELLA HOUSE.
The Gyeonggi Salim Market, a side event, will run from 3 p.m. on the 17th to 8 p.m. on the 18th. Visitors can experience and purchase products and services from small businesses, and the Gyeonggi Agro-Fisheries Promotion Agency will offer a 30% discount on Gyeonggi agricultural and livestock products.
Additional programs include food trucks, a flea market, a wood playground, a stamp rally, a bubble show, and performances by Gyeonggi artists.
Kim Won-myeong, Director of Public Relations Planning for Gyeonggi Province, stated, “The Together Green Festival is a meaningful opportunity to envision a sustainable future for Gyeonggi Province with its residents on the occasion of the 8th Gyeonggi Residents' Day. We aim to expand social consensus on climate crisis response and create a green festival with active resident participation.”
