CJ Logistics is expanding its small home appliance recycling project. The company has broadened its collection items from aluminum cans, paper cartons, and discarded mobile phones to now include digital devices such as laptops and smartphones.
CJ Logistics announced on the 14th that, in partnership with the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute and social enterprise REMANn, it will operate the contactless small appliance collection initiative, the 'RePlus Campaign,' until November 30. The campaign is designed to allow donors to safely contribute digital devices without concerns about data breaches.
Donors can request collection through the Replus Box website, which is linked to KakaoTalk, enabling service use without separate registration. CJ Logistics couriers will collect the provided safety pouch and box directly from the donor’s doorstep. All collected devices have their data completely erased using REMANn’s specialized program, and a deletion certificate is issued, ensuring privacy is protected during the donation process.
CJ Logistics expects to collect over 4,000 small appliances through this campaign, which is equivalent to the environmental benefit of saving 10,000 pine trees. Participants will also have a chance to win a tablet PC through a prize draw.
Additionally, CJ Logistics, in cooperation with the CJ Welfare Foundation, will hold a contest for the Gyeonggi-do Community Child Center under the theme of 'Digital Device Resource Circulation.' Marking its 20th anniversary this year, the contest will be conducted via the CJ Donors Camp platform and is open to submissions in various formats, including drawings, posters, and videos. Proceeds will be used to support laptops and help bridge the digital divide in underserved areas.
CJ Logistics has continued to promote resource circulation activities nationwide, collecting items such as aluminum cans, paper cartons, and used mobile phones through its logistics network. In May, the company received a commendation from the Ministry of Environment for its efforts in establishing a citizen-participatory resource circulation ecosystem.
A CJ Logistics official stated, “We aim to make it easy for anyone to participate in recycling and donation of waste resources through our nationwide logistics network. We will continue to advance our resource circulation model to create a virtuous cycle where the environment and local communities grow together.”
