[Financial News] On the 13th, President Lee Jae-myung stated, "In today's world, in the new international society of the 21st century, I believe that culture is at the heart of a nation's dignity, competitiveness, and national power."
Presiding over a senior aides meeting at the Office of the President of the Republic of Korea that day, President Lee remarked, "When we talk about culture, there are various aspects depending on one's perspective," and made these comments.
President Lee noted, "The Republic of Korea (ROK) has a small territory and is not particularly populous. While we rank high in national competitiveness, economic strength, and military power, we are not overwhelmingly ahead. However, as Kim Ku once hoped, our culture has begun to demonstrate truly great and powerful influence."
Additionally, President Lee emphasized, "I believe we are now entering the gateway to becoming a cultural powerhouse. The recent explosive popularity of K-Culture has further elevated the status and appeal of the ROK. Our country is emerging as a leading nation in the world, powered by its vibrant culture."
He continued, "When we think of culture, we usually mention music and the arts, but nowadays it encompasses dramas, films, food, beauty, and all kinds of fields. Ultimately, I believe the core of culture is a value system rooted in democracy. Starting with K-pop, moving through K-drama and K-movie, and now even K-food, K-beauty, and K-democracy, the world admires the ROK."
President Lee particularly stressed, "To firmly establish the achievements of K-Culture, it is essential to devise comprehensive measures that cover the entire cultural ecosystem. We must accelerate innovation in areas such as funding, taxation, and regulation to expand the foundation for cultural content."
He added, "We should seek various ways to enhance synergy with related industries. Efforts to strengthen the social safety net for cultural artists, who form the foundation of cultural policy, must also be expedited."
President Lee concluded, "With the mindset that the future of the ROK depends on achieving creative cultural innovation, I hope we will carefully and thoroughly design all related policies."
