[Financial News] On the 13th, the KOSPI is holding above the 3,550 mark, supported by individual investors’ defensive buying.
As of 1:50 p.m., the KOSPI was trading at 3,552.42, down 1.61% from the previous session. The index opened at 3,550.08, a 1.68% drop from the prior close, and fell more than 2% in early trading, but partially rebounded thanks to net buying by individual investors. At the same time, the KOSDAQ was down 0.52% at 855.03.
In the main stock market, foreign investors and institutions recorded net sales of 781.9 billion won and 406.7 billion won, respectively, while individuals made net purchases totaling 1.1191 trillion won.
Samsung Electronics, which dropped to 90,700 won (-3.92%) earlier in the session, is currently trading at 91,600 won, down 2.97% from the previous close. SK hynix is trading at 410,000 won, a decrease of 4.21%.
By sector, metals (up 5.78%), machinery and equipment (up 2.24%), and entertainment and culture (up 1.53%) are showing strength, while securities (down 2.95%), electrical and electronics (down 2.83%), and IT services (down 2.33%) are weaker.
Lee Jae-won, a researcher at Shinhan Securities, stated, “Despite the renewed US-China Trade Dispute, the market is showing more resilience than expected as both countries express willingness to engage in dialogue. In this context, Korea Zinc is soaring by more than 20% on expectations of benefiting from China’s mineral export controls, thanks to its business diversification into rare metals.”
