[Financial News] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 13th that it is recruiting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in the '2025 K-Beauty Creator Challenge.'
The K-Beauty Creator Challenge is a public-private partnership project launched last year to discover promising SMEs in the beauty sector and support their entry into global markets. In 2023, ten companies were selected from 178 applicants hoping to enter the US market. These companies received marketing consulting from Amazon and utilized the government's Export Voucher Program for export support.
This year, as more companies seek to diversify exports due to US tariff policies, the target regions have expanded to include Japan and Southeast Asia, in addition to the US. The program will recruit companies aiming to enter these markets and select a total of nine companies—three per region—through preliminary, main, and final rounds. Applications will be accepted from the 14th to the 28th.
In addition, to enhance the global competitiveness of participating companies, those advancing through each stage will receive tailored one-on-one consulting. This includes preparation for overseas expansion, training on joining global platforms, and advanced marketing strategy sessions in collaboration with platform providers.
The final selected companies will be able to join global platforms in each region and receive marketing support to strengthen product branding and increase sales. The government will also provide linked support through programs such as the Export Voucher Program and overseas certification acquisition. Startups will receive preferential benefits when participating in the Early-Stage Startup Package.
Eligible applicants are beauty SMEs with export performance of less than $5 million in the previous year. Prospective entrepreneurs with products at the prototype stage or beyond are also welcome to apply.
Lee Soon-bae, Director General for Global Growth Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, "Since 2023, K-beauty has firmly established itself as the top export item among SMEs. K-beauty not only globalizes beauty products but also plays a crucial role in driving the overseas expansion of various outstanding products from our SMEs. We will continue to provide policy support to sustain the vibrant and innovative ecosystem unique to the beauty sector, where creative ideas are quickly commercialized and can easily reach domestic and international consumers."
