[Financial News] The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) announced on the 10th that, in preparation for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, it will carry out joint highway inspections with the Highway Patrol, Korea Expressway Corporation, and other related organizations from the 13th to the 30th.
These joint inspections will take place at key highway locations, including entrances and exits to event venues, accident-prone areas, and rest stops. The initiative aims to ensure highway safety as the summit is expected to bring a high volume of domestic and international government officials and visitors.
The main inspection items include violations of vehicle safety standards, illegal modifications and improper loading of freight trucks, and lane violations. The results will be shared with relevant agencies to facilitate follow-up administrative actions and improvements.
Yong-Sik Jung, President of TS, stated, "Through these joint inspections, we expect to eradicate illegal vehicle activities during the APEC Summit and enhance overall national traffic safety. We will continue to work closely with related organizations to steadily improve traffic culture in line with the nation’s status as a host of a global event."
