The National Airport Workers Solidarity announced that it would launch a full-scale, indefinite strike starting at 6 a.m. that day.
At 2 p.m., they will hold the 'National Airport Workers General Strike Rally' near Exit 3 of the domestic terminal at Gimpo International Airport. Preliminary rallies will also take place at 9:30 a.m. on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1 at Incheon International Airport and at 10 a.m. near Exit 3 of the domestic terminal at Gimpo International Airport.
They plan to continue the strike, including during the National Foundation Day and Chuseok holidays, until their demands are met.
The National Airport Workers Solidarity, which consists of the Incheon Airport Branch of the Public Transport Workers' Union and the National Airport Labor Union, is made up of 15,000 workers responsible for runway and terminal maintenance, firefighting, and electrical facility management at 15 airports nationwide, including Incheon and Gimpo.
Previously, the workers held a one-day 'warning strike' on the 19th of last month, demanding a shift from the current three-shift, two-team system to a four-shift, two-team system, as well as improvements to address disadvantages faced by employees of subcontractors.
