Denies Financial Transactions with 'Main Player' Lee Jeong-pil of Deutsche Motors
[Financial News] Lee Jong-ho, known as the closest aide to First Lady Kim Geon-hee and former representative of Black Pearl Invest, denied all charges at the first trial.
The 23rd Criminal Agreement Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Oh Se-yong) held the first trial of the first instance of the former representative, who was indicted for violating the Attorney-at-Law Act, at 11 a.m. on the 23rd. The former representative, who is in custody, appeared in court wearing a navy suit jacket and a white shirt.
The former representative's side denied all charges, stating that they did not receive any money from Mr. Lee Jeong-pil, the 'main player' in the first stock price manipulation case of Deutsche Motors. The former representative's lawyer stated, "The defendant denies receiving money from Mr. Lee Jeong-pil."
However, the former representative's side stated that they would provide a specific position on some of the charges listed in the indictment after further review.
The court will hold a second trial on October 24 at 2 p.m. to discuss future procedures, including confirming the evidence opinions of both sides. A witness examination is scheduled for the third trial on November 25.
The Special Prosecutor's Team for Kim Geon-hee (Special Prosecutor Min Jung-gi) arrested the former representative on the 5th of last month and brought him to trial on the 22nd of the same month.
The former representative, who managed Mrs. Kim's account, is accused of receiving a total of over 80 million won in 25 instances by persuading Mr. Lee Jeong-pil, using his connections, with the intention of "ensuring a suspended sentence."
