[Financial News] LIG Nex1 and Airbus DS (Airbus Defense&Space) are joining hands to expand the global market in the integrated air defense sector.
On the 22nd, LIG Nex1 signed a 'Cooperation Agreement for Future Cooperation in the Integrated Air Defense Sector' with Airbus DS at 2Pangyo House. The event was attended by Taesik Park, head of LIG Nex1 Missile Systems Division, and Harald Mannheim, Airbus DS Germany representative, along with officials from both companies.
This cooperation agreement is an extension of the agreement signed at the 'Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2023'. Through this signing, they plan to expand cooperation in export projects with major countries such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including domestic integrated air defense system concept research.
LIG Nex1 is the only defense company in Korea that has comprehensive system achievements for all anti-aircraft guided weapons, from Cheongung to L-SAM, by altitude and mission type.
An LIG Nex1 official said, "As complex threats such as drones, ballistic missiles, and long-range rockets increase, the need for a multi-layered, network-based integrated air defense system is growing," and "We hope this cooperation will serve as an opportunity to advance the Korean integrated air defense system and expand future and new businesses and overseas markets."
Meanwhile, Airbus DS, headquartered in France, plays a key role in the defense sector in Europe and specializes in developing and supplying various military equipment such as aerospace. Airbus DS has proven its technological prowess and international interoperability through the Surface-to-Air Missile Operations Center (SAMOC), an integrated air defense command and control system operated in NATO.
