Charged with Violation of the Punishment of Violence Act
[Financial News] A woman in her 70s who assaulted Seong Il-jong, a member of the National Power Party, in the National Assembly has been handed over to the prosecution.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 22nd that they had sent a woman in her 70s, Ms. A, to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Punishment of Violence Act on the 16th.
Ms. A is accused of slapping Representative Seong during a seminar of the Korean Breast Cancer Patient Group held in the main conference room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the afternoon of the 10th. At that time, Ms. A was caught by National Assembly officials and handed over to the police.
Although Representative Seong's side expressed to the police that they did not wish for punishment, it is known that the police decided this after investigating Ms. A's crime and criminal record from multiple angles.
