[Financial News] This year, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' shook the world. Its predecessor, the traditional Joseon-era sound 'Jabga (雜歌)', will have a spectacular performance in Gyeonggi-do.
Based on the traditional sound genre 'Jabga', which was the greatest K-content of the 20th century, the performance 'There is Jabga 雜歌 Outside the Door' will be presented at 4 PM on November 11 at the Yuchaekkot Small Theater in Guri Art Hall, Guri City.
This performance, centered around young Gyeonggi sound artist Nam Gyeong-u, will showcase the essence of Joseon traditional vocal music 'Jabga' with young sounds and dance by sound artists Kim Min-ji, Yun Se-yeon, and Jeong Jun-pil.
Nam Gyeong-u, a holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Gyeonggi Folk Song, has been attempting reinterpretation and creation in various fields such as Gyeonggi sound, directing, and composing traditional arts. In particular, he has been continuing to propose a new paradigm by planning various contents and announcing new works containing the value of tradition every year.
Gyeonggi sound artist Lee Chae-hyeon, a transmitter of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Gyeonggi Folk Song, is active as a member of the music group 'Guiim' and took charge of music direction and arrangement in this performance.
Supported by the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation's premiere performance support, the Gyeong-u Sound Series 'There is Jabga 雜歌 Outside the Door' revives the last traditional sound outside the four gates, Jabga, on stage, reflecting on the background and roots that allowed current sound artists to be born.
The Jabga series, presented by four young sound artists, is divided into three chapters. It consists of sounds that came out from inside the four gates, sounds that artists boasted while wandering, and Jabga that became popular songs, containing the history of the lives of common people and traditional sound culture.
In addition, Kim Min-ji, a holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Gyeonggi Folk Song, Jeong Jun-pil, a holder of Seoul's Intangible Cultural Heritage Seosori Santaryeong, and 'Cheongchunmanbal Best Artist' Yun Se-yeon are expected to enrich the traditional Jabga stage.
Furthermore, Mingu Hong Manufacturing, which collaborated with Hyukoh and Jang Kiha, participates in graphic design to abstract various scenes related to Jabga, presenting a sophisticated blend of modern expression and traditional beauty to the audience.
Nam Gyeong-u, who is in charge of directing and sound, said, "We have prepared a performance that anyone can easily understand and enjoy by unraveling the history contained in Jabga with consistent storytelling," adding, "I want to share the deep charm and emotion of the sound culture contained in Jabga with the audience and write a new story."
Ticket reservations and detailed performance information can be found on the Naver reservation website.
