President Lee stated that "from today until October 1st, the 10 days will be 'Korea Renovation Week'" and explained that "in preparation for the Chuseok holiday and the APEC summit, it is a nationwide cleanup campaign to welcome family and guests in a new Korea, a clean land."
President Lee said, "In particular, residents and volunteers will conduct purification activities focusing on areas with poor living conditions and around traditional markets," and added, "If many citizens join, it will be a great help in creating a clean land of Korea."
President Lee expressed regret for not being able to participate on-site due to attending the UN General Assembly, but emphasized, "I will do my best overseas to enhance Korea's status and national prestige." He continued, "I hope to create a country where all citizens can feel pride by creating a clean and pleasant land."
