[Financial News] Netmarble has been expanding its presence in both domestic and international markets as its newly released titles this year have achieved back-to-back successes. With a diverse lineup including MMORPGs, action RPGs, and open-world RPGs delivering strong results, the company’s reputation for game development and publishing capabilities has been further enhanced.
According to industry sources on the 21st, 'Seven Knights Re:BIRTH', which Netmarble launched globally on the 18th, has shown impressive performance from its very first day. Starting with global pre-downloads on the 16th, 'Seven Knights Re:BIRTH' quickly topped the popularity charts on the App Store in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Macau. Data from Sensor Tower indicates that the game continues to perform strongly, particularly in Asia, including Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
The global power of the 'Seven Knights' IP, which surpassed 70 million downloads worldwide since its 2015 launch, has once again been proven in the global market. Notably, the game supports 15 languages, including English, Japanese, and Spanish, and offers cross-platform play between mobile and PC, which has contributed to its initial accessibility.
Prior to the global release of 'Seven Knights Re:BIRTH', Netmarble ramped up its marketing efforts with offline showcases in Thailand and Taiwan, attended by each branch head, Netmarble Nexus CEO Kim Jung-min, and Executive Producer Kim Jung-gi. In Korea, the game also achieved remarkable results, reaching No. 1 in App Store sales just seven hours after its May release and topping both major app markets within five days.
This year, Netmarble has managed to land three out of four new releases on a path to commercial success. 'Vampyr', officially launched on August 26, reached No. 1 in App Store sales within eight hours and topped both major markets in just nine days. This achievement is especially notable as it dethroned NCSoft’s 'Lineage M', which had held the top spot for years. Industry analysts describe this as a result that exceeded expectations. 'Vampyr' generated buzz even before its launch, as key developers from 'Lineage 2: Revolution', a title credited with elevating the standard of Korean mobile games, participated in its development. The game’s vampire concept and dark medieval fantasy setting also captured users’ attention. Sensor Tower estimates that 'Vampyr' generated over $25 million (approximately KRW 3.47 billion) in revenue in the 20 days from its release to the 14th of this month.
With both original IPs and new titles successfully established in the market, expectations for Netmarble’s performance this year are rising. The company is also set to release major anticipated titles in the second half of the year, such as 'The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin', which is seen as another positive factor.
Seungho Choi, a researcher at DS Investment & Securities, stated, “Netmarble’s hit ratio this year has reached 75%. Beyond simple game quality, it is time to re-evaluate Netmarble’s publishing capabilities.” Jun-gyu Lee, a researcher at BOOKOOK SECURITIES, noted, “Above all, the fact that new titles utilizing original IPs have also succeeded is a positive change for Netmarble’s long-term ambitions as an IP holder. We believe a re-evaluation of its stock price and corporate value is likely to occur soon.”
