[Financial News] The police have completed the search and seizure of the National Assembly Members' Office of independent lawmaker Lee Chun-seok, who is under suspicion of nominee stock trading.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Financial Crime Investigation Division's dedicated investigation team announced that they executed a search and seizure warrant on the lawmaker's office and others from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM on the 18th, for about 3 hours and 30 minutes.
The police reportedly secured additional materials related to the source of funds used by the lawmaker for stock investments and the mobile phones of aides other than Mr. Cha.
The lawmaker is suspected of trading stocks worth about 1 billion won over three years under the name of an aide, Mr. Cha. The police are focusing on tracing the source of funds, noting that the lawmaker, whose declared assets are in the 400 million won range, purchased stocks exceeding this amount.
The lawmaker reportedly admitted to nominee trading during two summons investigations but stated that the stock payments were covered by publication commemorations and congratulatory and condolence expenses.
The police had also conducted a search and seizure of the lawmaker's office and regional office on the 11th of last month, initiating a forced investigation.
