Direct Communication with Yoon Before and After Martial Law... Suspected of Disposing Presidential Office PC
[Financial News] The Special Prosecutor's Team for Insurrection and Foreign Affairs (Cho Eun-seok Special Prosecutor) is investigating Jeong Jin-seok, former Chief of Staff to the President, as a reference. This is the first time Jeong has appeared before the special prosecutor's team.
The special prosecutor's team has been questioning Jeong since 10 a.m. on the 18th. Jeong is known to have directly communicated with former President Yoon Seok-yeol before and after the proclamation of the 12·3 martial law.
Although Jeong was not a cabinet member, he attended the cabinet meeting before the proclamation of martial law with Shin Won-sik, who was then the National Security Office Chief. Before the martial law was lifted, Jeong also visited the Joint Chiefs of Staff Combat Control Room to meet former President Yoon.
Jeong is also suspected of ordering the disposal or shredding of records and documents stored on the presidential office's public computer (PC) to eliminate evidence related to martial law. He has been reported to the authorities by a civic group regarding this matter.
The special prosecutor's team plans to investigate whether Jeong agreed with the proclamation of the 12·3 martial law and whether he ordered the destruction of related evidence afterward.
