[Financial News] The police are conducting an additional search and seizure of the office of independent lawmaker Lee Choon-seok, who is under suspicion of nominee stock transactions.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Financial Crime Investigation Division's dedicated investigation team announced that they are executing a search and seizure warrant on the lawmaker's office from 10 a.m. on the 18th.
It is reported that the police are securing additional data related to the source of funds used by the lawmaker for stock investments.
The lawmaker is accused of conducting stock transactions worth over one billion won under the name of his aide, Cha, over three years (violation of the Real Name Financial Act and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, etc.).
The police are tracking the source of funds, believing that the lawmaker, whose assets were around 400 million won, purchased stocks worth over one billion won.
The lawmaker admitted to the nominee transaction allegations during two summons investigations but explained that the stock funds were covered by event expenses.
Previously, the police summoned the lawmaker and aide Cha for questioning as suspects and conducted a search and seizure of the lawmaker's office, constituency office, and the National Assembly Secretariat.
