[Financial News] A former national speed skating representative was attacked with a weapon by a former student.
According to the police on the 17th, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul arrested a woman in her 30s, Ms. A, as a red-handed criminal on charges of special injury the previous day.
Ms. A is accused of wielding a weapon at Mr. B, a former national speed skating representative in his 40s, at the Taereung International Skating Rink in Gongneung-dong, Nowon-gu, at around 7:25 PM the previous day, causing injuries.
Mr. B was transported to the hospital with injuries to his face and hands, but it was determined that there was no threat to his life.
According to the Korea Skating Union, Ms. A received skating guidance from Mr. B during her high school days over 10 years ago and claimed she was sexually assaulted at that time.
Mr. B was permanently expelled by the Korea Skating Union in 2014 for this matter and later received a summary order of a 3 million won fine for charges including special assault in court.
The Korea Skating Union changed the permanent expulsion to a three-year suspension following the court's decision, and Mr. B is reported to have coached athletes as a private instructor.
The police plan to investigate the specific details of the crime.jyseo@fnnews.com Seo Ji-yoon Reporter
